Resume: Herman S. Mansur has a permanent position as Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)-Brazil. He assumed the Chair of Materials Science and Interfaces at Federal University of Minas Gerais in March 1998 following 12 years working as Manager of the Semiconductors and Advanced Materials Engineering at SHARP Corp. in Brazil where he headed several R&D projects and joint-ventures with companies worldwide. He completed his Metallurgical and Materials Eng. degree at Federal University in 1985, Software Eng. Specialist in 1987, and his MSc. in Physico-Chemistry in 1992. In 1992 he joined the Advanced Materials Group from Professor Franz Grieser in the School of Chemistry at Melbourne University, Australia as an invited Research Visitor. The research project pioneered the investigation of quantum dots in molecular films for several applications such as non-linear optical devices and biosensors. He received his PhD degree in 1996 studying nanocomposites based on conductive molecular films coupled to semiconductor nanoparticles. His studies have led to the publication of over 130 articles in scientific peer reviewed journals, over 300 presentations at conference proceedings, 3 books and 6 patents. He supervised and co- supervised over 35 Masters and PhD Thesis, attending to over 60 scientific national and international conferences. He is a reviewer of about 55 indexed scientific journals and Member of Editorial Board of “Biomedical Engineering Journal”.

Prof H Mansur is particularly interested in research areas that include Bioconjugates, Biofunctionalized nanomaterials, Bionanoengineering, Biocompatible Fluorophores, Bionanotechnology, Biomaterials and Tissue engineering. Total citation: > 1,700. H-index: 22.
